On the evening of Friday, February 8, 2008, FAU
CSA hosted “Sensual
Seduction: Valentine’s Date Auction” at Coyote Jack’s Bar &
Grill in the FAU Student Union. The main purpose of the Chinese
auction was to raise funds for the club to attend this semester’s
FCSA Conference at FIU. In a Chinese auction in order to place a
bid, one must pay the difference between the previous bid and their
higher, individual bid. At the end the winner& the participant have
the option of going on a dinner date.
The auction was a good way for our members to
support the club as well as socialize with our FCSA family. We
invited the South Florida CSAs to our event, and many showed their
support. Our dynamic M.C. for the night was Adlai Moss, former
President of the Barry University CSA. In conjunction with our own
Executive Board members and club members, Thomas “Deebo” George (FIU
CSA Vice President) and Tito Melbourne (Barry CSA President) also
volunteered to be participants.
We promoted the date auction through Facebook, our MyFAU
group, Breezeway table (a high traffic area on campus), flyers,
bi-weekly general meetings, and by word-of-mouth.
The event got off to a late start but,
all-in-all Sensual Seduction
was a success! We raised
approximately $1000 for the club! We encourage others to host a
Chinese Date Auction as it is a lucrative means to raise funds for
your organization.
We truly appreciate the support of our members
and especially our FCSA family who traveled a long way to support
us. See you all at Conference!
