Executive Board 2007-2008

Name:
Lyndon Charles
FCSA E-board Position:
President, 07-08
President's Address
I Rep: Grenada, Carriacou & Petit Martinique
School: Florida International
University (FIU)
Major:
Computer Science, Senior
Some Stuff About Me:
I like traveling, reading, and I am a movie buff. I am also a Latin
Dance instructor. There is nothing like a good fete and basically
having a good time for me.
Why I joined FCSA: I
joined the CSA on my campus in my first year after moving to the
US
from Grenada
and starting school at FIU. I quickly made friends in the group as
it was a place of common ground for me to meet with people of
similar backgrounds and interests. After suggestions from some
Grenadian friends of mine (who studied at FAU), and that year's
e-board, I decided to take their advice to attend the FCSA Bi-Annual
conference after it was touted as a must see. I must say, after
attending my first conference at FAMU in Fall 2005 I was sold and
I’ve been an active member in the FCSA ever since. I'll always
remember one of the workshops that year which dealt with the divide
between Caribbean and African Americans and what it means to be from
the Caribbean, which was chaired by
an Antiguan professor. I eventually became President of FIU CSA,
last year (06-07), and was very involved in FCSA and our district. I
am now your 07-08 President and I look forward to serving and
working with you.
The friends and networks I’ve made have made me an avid advocate of
the organization and I intend to join the Alumni Chapter after
graduation.

Max-Tremayne James
FCSA E-board Position:
Vice-President, 07-08
I Rep: The beautiful
twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago
School:
Broward
Community College, Senior (transferring
to Florida
Atlantic
University
in Spring 2008)
Some Stuff About Me:
I enjoy playing football, listening to music, and enjoying a
good Trinbagonian lime with friends, I also one day would like to
travel the world and experience new cultures and people.
Why I joined FCSA:
I joined FCSA because I have great love for this
organization and for what it stands for. FCSA promotes the
communication of Caribbean students within Florida which
obviously was of particular interest to me on my arrival in
Florida. When I started college I had absolutely no
friends, it was not until a classmate of mine introduced me
to The American West-Indian Club, the CSA on Bcc's Central
campus, that I gained friends in Florida and a whole new
whole opened up to me. I became very active that year in my
club and was recognized by my college that year as the most
outstanding club member. I later was voted the President of
that CSA and now Vice-President of FCSA. My mission this
year is to help promote the awareness of FCSA and allow the
organization to mean to others what it means to me.

Name:
Theresa Williams
FCSA E-board Position:
Secretary, 07-08
I Rep: Turks and Caicos
Islands
School: De Vry University
(transfer from Nova South Eastern University)
Major: Business
Administration in Project Management
Some Stuff About Me:
I enjoy Traveling, Electronic Gadgets, Movies, Golf, and working in
the Plumbing and Electrical Field.
Why I joined FCSA:
I was an attendee of NSU from Fall 2004; I was looking for an extra
activity to add to my schedule. I joined my CSA at NSU in Winter
2005, and was elected to run as a PRO 05-06 for the organization
that upcoming year. After joining the group I was astonished by the
amount of people I became friends with. My CSA made me feel as if I
was at home. I attended my first Florida Caribbean Student
Association (FCSA) Bi-Annual Conference in Fall 2005, and had one of
the best experience of my life. I not only met more people, but I
was placed in an environment of learning, and knowing more about the
Caribbean. After becoming more involved with NSU CSA, I
was offered the opportunity to run for a position on the FCSA
E-board and I took it as a chance to better myself. I was elected
FCSA Secretary 07-08, and made a promise to work hard for the
individual CSAs; and that’s a promise I intend to keep.

Name:
Kerina Ellis
FCSA E-board Position:
Treasurer, 07-08
I Rep:
Grenada
"Spice Isle of the Caribbean"
School: Florida State
University
Major: Finance and
Risk Management with a minor in International Affairs
Some Stuff About Me:
I enjoy reading, listening to jazz and other genres of music.
I have collected movie stubs since I was 14. I love to host socials
at my house on the weekends and basically entertain my friends.
Why I joined FCSA:
One reason... CONFERENCE... The fact that Caribbean Students at
universities from all over
Florida
come together every semester to celebrate and embrace our culture is
thrilling to me. I get great pleasure from being surrounded by
people from the different islands. Going to conference is like going
home for me, sort of a mini break from college life. My
sophomore year I was elected treasurer of FSU CSA with the hopes of
one day being elected to FCSA to contribute to an organization that
has helped make my college experience one for the books.

Some stuff about me: I enjoy playing music and deejaying,
and I have my own radio show on my campus radio station. I enjoy all
sports, but football (soccer) is my favorite. I also enjoy reading,
computers, and electronics.
Why I joined FCSA: I became a member of FCSA, after
joining FAMU CSA in the second week of my freshman semester after
coming to Tallahassee, Florida
– not knowing a single individual. Being a part of FAMU CSA allowed
me to make lifelong friends and it continues to make my college
experience more enjoyable, because I now have a family and a home
away from home. After attending my first FCSA Bi-annual Conference
in Fall 2004 at Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical
University
in Daytona Beach,
I have been to every bi-annual conference since then. I have served
as the FAMU CSA Public Relations Officer (05-06) and I am now the
FCSA Public Relations Officer for the 07-08 year. I made a pledge to
work hard to serve the organization and its members in any capacity
deemed necessary, and this is a pledge I intend to keep.
